Clarifying webBook Initiative

Art/Bill C/Bill M/Jay Request - Before getting back to Manish Kumar on possibility of the webBook Initiative in the context of Industry 4.0/5.0 Institute, I reached out to Art Koehler, Bill Carrelli, Bill Meredith, and Jay Kim (4 experienced webBook users) asking for their brain-cycles on the webBook Initiative, webBook Commercialization,  and webBooks in the context of the Industry 4.0/5.0 Institute.  Art was kind enough to read all 39 pages of the webBook Initiative webBook and provide helpful insights.

Clarifying the webBook Initiative - In working through Art's response, I have realized that my main thrust does not come across clearly.  I am thinking of the webBook Initiative as a specific activity that orchestrates UC resources to produce a product and/or service that provides revenue to the university.  In reviewing the current status of the webBook Initiative webBook, I am realizing that this does not come across clearly.  While on the webBook Initiative Engagement page the start point is identified as "IP Contribution to Foundation," the path to revenue to UC is not further developed.  I need to fix that.

Systems Engineering - Next Lives Here webBook - One of the questions I posed was where Art/Bill C/Bill M/Jay view the webBook Initiative on the Crazy <+++++> Brilliant Spectrum and how one could move the needle more toward the Brilliant end.  Art's response - not crazy, but bold.  Reviewing the the webBook Initiative webBook suggested to Art creating a <webBook> presenting a Systems Engineering approach to integrating UC's innovation programs (Next Lives Here) with other UC resources -- Foundation, Co-op, IT infrastructure, etc.

A intriguing suggestion from Art is to work with UC Chief Innovation Officer, David Adams, and his leadership team to capture their plans in "their" Next Lives Here <webBook>.  I think of this suggestion for creating a webBook not so much a commentary on the <webBook> Initiative itself, but rather a webBook application example that could be executed in the context of the webBook Initiative. On the other hand, we could do a thought swap and think of the webBook Initiative as as an example of what becomes documented in the Next Lives Here webBook.

Industry 4.0/5.0 Institute - In regard to Industry 4.0/5.0 Institute and working with Manish, Art suggests thinking not only in terms of Industry 4.0/5.0 Institute but also Manish's other activities as researcher and Graduate Program Director for the MME Department.  Two separate discussions.  Another good thought.
